Former Argentine businessman Lázaro Báez partially acquitted

Buenos Aires, March 18 (NA) – The former construction businessman Lázaro Báez has been partially acquitted along with 11 other people accused of tax evasion through the company Austral Construcciones. The decision was made by the Oral Court in Economic Criminal Matters No. 3, following the new Law of Fiscal Innocence promoted by the government of President Javier Milei in the National Congress.

However, Báez will have to stand trial for the debt from the year 2012. This is because the new tax legislation established thresholds that exclude other years in which his company did not make VAT and Income Tax payments. The acquittal also extends to Báez's children: Martín, Leandro, and Luciana, as well as César Andrés, Julio Mendoza, Claudio Bustos, Mario Delgado, Eduardo Arrejín, Tomás Garzón, María C. González, Gastón Lemoine, Ariel Nieto, Hugo Uribe, and Emilio Martín.
